Step by step instructions

Below are the simple steps to make a pipe cleaner cosmos flowers. You will need 6 purple pipe cleaners and 1 yellow one.

First, this is the finished product you should be working toward. 

Step 1.1: take a purple pipe cleaner and twist it at ~1.7 inch

Step 1.2: use the short end and make a crown shape

Step 1.3: twist the short end’s slack into the crown, then do the same to the other end

Step 1.4: you should have something similar to this. Secure the slacks by twisting it around the nearest pipe. Then you have your smallest pedal!

Step 1.5: squeeze the pedals tightly so there are no gaps between the pipes. Go on to make 6 of these pedals

Step 2.1: now you are moving onto the pipe cleaner flower core. Take the yellow pipe and twist it into a circle

Step 2.2:  when you have a big enough core circle, flip it around and mold it into a 3D shape like below

Step 2.3:  cut the slack with scissors, the circle should be around 0.8 inch wide

Step 3.1: we can now put together the entire flower! Take your 6 pedals, use your glue gun or use a thin rope to tighten the pedals

Step 3.2: if you have a fake flower stem and some thin green sheet, you can stick the pedals’ roots to the stem and wrap it with green sheets

Step 3.2: attach the flower core to the middle of your pedals with glue gun

Step 3.3: adjust your pedals to make it more 3-dimensional

Now you have your simple Cosmos flower! You can make multiple flowers with different sizes and attach them all to the same stems
